Quickstart
The Owner path from sign-in to a verified Channel and its first published Brief.
This is the path for the person who will initially own the Channel. PodHood reads the public catalog directly, so connecting it does not change the YouTube channel, RSS feed, podcast host, or existing website. The one privileged step is a one-time proof that the show is yours.
If somebody else should own the Channel and pay for future indexing, let that person complete this flow. Ownership can be transferred later, but the new Owner's Plan and Credits take effect immediately. Taking over a Channel someone already built for you? Sign in
Go to podhood.com/sign-in and continue with Google or with an email code.
Find your channel
Pick where your show lives — YouTube or Podcast (a standard RSS feed, usually the same feed submitted to Apple or Spotify).
For the most deterministic match, paste the full YouTube channel URL or RSS feed URL. Name search, an @handle, and a raw YouTube channel id also work, but a URL avoids picking a similarly named show.
When the preview shows the right show, hit Import channel. Exactly one source per Channel; episodes, titles, and artwork mirror from it from now on.
Prove it's your channel
Before anything is created, PodHood checks that you actually own the show — so nobody can claim your podcast, and you can't accidentally claim someone else's. The proof depends on the source:
- YouTube — hit Verify with Google and authorize the Google account (or Brand Account) that owns the channel. PodHood requests the read-only
youtube.readonlyscope and uses it to match the authorized identity to the Channel being connected. It does not upload, edit, or delete anything. If the Google login manages several channels, choose the identity that owns the one in the preview. - Podcast (RSS) — PodHood emails a six-digit code to the owner address your feed publishes (the
itunes:owneremail, the same one Apple and Spotify use). Enter it to confirm. Codes expire after 10 minutes, and you can resend after a short cooldown.
If your feed doesn't publish an owner email, the step gives you an Email us link — a human verifies the show with you and connects it by hand.
Nothing exists on PodHood until verification passes — closing the tab mid-step leaves no half-connected channel behind.
Watch the import
Two things happen, live on screen:
- Your catalog mirrors into the Studio — episodes appear newest first while the full import continues in the background.
- Your newest single episode is indexed automatically as the unmetered activation sample. It receives a transcript and Brief (summary, chapters, key moments, Q&A, speakers, entities, and topics), then becomes the first published episode in the Library.
When it lands, the screen says "Your first brief is ready" and the Owner receives an email. It is safe to close the tab while import or indexing continues.
Syncing the rest of the catalog does not publish it. After the activation sample, your team chooses which episodes to Index from the Studio; those runs use the Owner's Credits.
Pick your Library address
Your Channel gets a slug — the public address <slug>.podhood.com. A default is derived from the YouTube handle or feed title; you can edit it during onboarding or later under Settings → General → Library URL.
Changing the slug later breaks the old links — there are no redirects. Settle it before you share the address.
Explore both surfaces
- Library — the public site listeners, search engines, and agents can read. At first it contains the activation sample only.
- Studio at
podhood.com/studio/<slug>— the private operator surface for episodes, subscribers, settings, billing, domains, members, and knowledge-graph curation.
Before inviting the team, open Settings → General and confirm the Podcast language. It is the fallback for transcript translation and the display language of the public Library.
